wow i am so exhausted. from talking to too many people and doing too many things. i suddenly became inspired to make the video footage from kenya into digital format today... i was sitting there in the quiet media center almost bursting out loud with laughter... ah such good times. i'll have to youtube a few clips or something..
i've been doing serious things too like helping people with assignments, applications, and really draining is grading final exams for the class that I TA for. but i am so amazed to see how much people have progressed since the beginning of this semester. it's heartening :)
and things for myself, like playing piano. and picking out a few guitar notes. hehe. and baking lots of cookies. well the cookies aren't for myself, but i made them myself so i think that counts. i made over 70 cookies today. yummy.
somehow i still managed to squeeze time in today to go ride gokarts and play puttputt!! do you guys remember how fun puttputt was? i totally forgot until i played it today. haha and air hockey. what great games.
ahh so exhausted, i can't wait to go to san francisco for the revisit. usually those are very tiring trips where they pack your schedule full to brimming.. but i bet they can't pack it more full than i have already. hahah..
I went to the International Festival in houston today. We were walking past booths representing all different countries (although they weren't labeled with the country).. and I got some earrings from Senegal and talked to the peddler from Trinidad&Tobago etc etc... then we stopped at this one place and stacy was like "hmm i like this thing" pointing to one of their clothing pieces... and when i took a look, i somehow felt that it seemed familiar and was like "wait! i bet this is kenya!" when i asked the seller, what do u know, it WAS from kenya! haha i told him that i was in kenya the previous summer...
"jambo (hello)" I said "jambo. habari? (how are you)" he greets i had a split-second anxiety wondering whether i knew the response. "mzuri (fine)" i automatically answered. haha man, the last time someone asked me about swahili, i totally couldn't remember anything.. but i guess language really is context dependent, and his casual question can elicit the right memories. cool. haha. anyway, i was just proud to have identified the country correctly.
does someone want to take an international trip with me? anytime before july and we could plan together... i don't really want to go with a tour group, but i think i would have to unless someone else wants to go too. i'm really serious about this. i'm thinking somewhere in europe... my top choices would be rome (includine nearby pompeii and naples), followed by eastern europe prague, vienna, budapest.. ok i hope some of u have nothing to do before july too. hehe
